Meet the glamorous socialites living in London.

Some of the most exciting moments in London society are when women like my friend Barbra, who are not originally from London, come to take the city’s social scene by storm! I was pleased to introduce her to the Chinese designer Grace Chen, who designed a breathtaking couture piece just for her in her studios in Shanghai before coming to London for the final fitting. As Barbra maintains a bold, luxurious lifestyle, this beautiful dress expressed her personality perfectly.

As a personal stylist, I aim to ensure that my clients feel at their very best, and so cultivating deep friendships and starting meaningful relationships are at the heart of what I do. Barbra and I have been friends since we studied together, so it was particularly rewarding to introduce her to Grace Chen, whose work was then showcased to new and fabulous audiences.

Borreraig, Isle of Skye

My lockdown was in a remote corner of the Isle of Skye. I walked up and down stony beaches and learned to lose myself in the space and sound of the sea. I found old metal fishing buoys. I brought these onto land, laced them together and set them in a small pond, and this installation would change shape and colour with the seasons. Before, I would have dismissed it as trivial. Now I wondered what it meant. It led to my work for the 2022 RA Summer Exhibition.

On one of the last occasions that this past year has had to offer to social gatherings, Richard Hilliard and I brought together a group of people across the spectrum of British society, from the realms of interior design and fashion photography to business and film.

We hosted our event in the very traditional Travellers Club for a select number of people, who were given the opportunity to practice what we had been teaching them about British lifestyle and culture.

Our aim was to provide them with a real-life experience in which to meet with people at the top of their fields, so that they could engage what they had learned in an elegant yet comfortable environment. Richard and I were there to help them practice their conversation and their manners in a fully English context.

This evening of networking brought my work and Richard’s work to life, which is all about international mingling with an especial focus on the finer points of British culture.
